MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - 07/13/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Study.com now offers over 60 online courses available for college credit through College Accelerator. The College Accelerator Plan allows students to fulfill the bulk of their general education requirements through low-cost online courses. Popular courses include: English Literature, Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Psychology, Western Civilizations, US History, Sociology, Business Management, Marketing, and Political Science.

These competency-based online courses allow students to watch self-paced video lessons, review material, and demonstrate mastery of the subject by passing a proctored exam online. College credit earned online is easily transferable to over 2,0000 schools. Using College Accelerator to earn college credit online helps students reduce their overall tuition costs by an average of $3,380 per course at private universities and $1,030 per course at public universities*.

“Millions of students are paying too much for college. Most people are not even aware that alternative credit options like College Accelerator exist,” says Adrian Ridner, CEO and Co-founder of Study.com, “By supplementing the traditional college experience with online courses that fit into their schedule, students can earn the same degree without taking on a ton of student debt.”

College Accelerator differs from other competency-based programs because it is not tied to a specific school. The courses created by Study.com have been recommended for credit by The American Council on Education (ACE). ACE has a network of over 2,000 college and university partners in the US that consider ACE credit for transfer. Specific policies on the transfer and acceptance of credit for a particular degree program are at the discretion of the school, and students are advised to discuss transfer plans with their school’s registrar.

College Accelerator can be used by high school students interested in dual enrollment, current college students for supplemental learning, and working adults re-entering college to complete their degree.
