London Remains A Top Destination for Discover Car Hire Drivers in 2018

Online car hire reservation agency Discover Car Hire serves over 4 million visitors on its website each year in over 5,000 locations worldwide. According to Discover Car Hire’s data from March until May 2018, London, Lisbon, Barcelona, and Dublin were popular destinations for both US and UK drivers as these places featured in the top 10 for both nationalities. Toronto, London, Paris, Keflavik, and Lisbon were the top 5 destinations for US drivers renting cars with Discover Car Hire outside of the United States. Between March and May 2018, the top five rental locations for Discover Car Hire’s UK customers were London, Faro, Malaga, Dublin, and Lisbon.

Iceland was not as popular for UK customers in comparison to US customers as it did not even feature in the top 30. Toronto seems to be a popular destination for US customers in much the same way as Dublin is for UK customers due to its proximity and friendly locals who enjoy festivals and fun. Lisbon is the fifth most popular destination for both US and UK drivers. Faro, which is in Portugal’s southern Algarve region is even more popular for UK drivers than the capital itself, most likely because it is a better destination for those searching for a quiet getaway, whereas Lisbon is a sprawling metropolis. Faro was more popular among UK customers who wanted some sunshine during the dull winter months as Faro has better weather due to its southern location.

Orlando, Florida, was the only US destination in the top 30 that UK drivers went to between March and May as UK drivers mainly stuck to Europe. Clearly, DisneyWorld is the motivating factor that brings British visitors to Florida during this time. Spain remains a popular destination for UK drivers due to its proximity and sunshine, but Spain did not seem as popular for US drivers.
