Joanne K. Adams, Executive Director of the Belmont Child Care Association, Inc., has been selected as Top Female Executive Director of the Year for 2017, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)!

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With having over 10 years in the thoroughbred industry and over 25 years of corporate and philanthropic work experience, Joanne has certainly proved herself as an extraordinary professional, and expert in many fields.  Joanne’s key responsibilities are overseeing the operations, fundraising, marketing, public relations, and community outreach.  Joanne is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only as the former Director of Community Relations for the New York Racing Association Inc., but also as a successful business woman and liaison who has contributed so much to her community and any organization she has ever been involved with.

As the Executive Director for Belmont Child Care Association, Inc., Joanne is responsible for providing a safe supportive and academically inspiring environment for the children of parents working in the thoroughbred racing backstretch area, located at New York’s Historic Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack and Saratoga Race Course.  Joanne works tirelessly to ensure the organization promotes early childhood education and encourages molding young minds to fulfill their dreams. In her former role with the NYRA, Joanne specialized in coordinating NYRA’s charitable giving, served as NYRA’s representative to the local business communities, and oversaw NYRA’s participation in community activities on and off the track.

Throughout her illustrious career, Joanne has been recognized worldwide and has received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership and philanthropic efforts. She is the recipient of the 2010 “Citizen of the Year Award” from the Garden City Chamber of Commerce and was presented with the 2002 “New York State Senate Liberty Award”, for her role as chairman of the Breeders’ Cup Benefit for the Garden City Family Relief Fund.  In 2011, she was selected as one of “Thoroughbred Racing’s Unsung Heroes” by the Thoroughbred Times and she received the 2011 “Business Person of the Year Award” from the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce.  In 2012, she was honored by the Kidney & Urology Foundation of America (KUFA) at its inaugural “Top 25 Champions for a Cure” hosted by the Woodlands Country Club, for her advocacy to finding a cure for prostate cancer and kidney disease.  Joanne is a past president of The Stewart Fund in Memory of St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s, is a sustaining member of the Junior League of the City of New York, past President of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation and past President and emeritus board member of the Garden City Historical Society.  Joanne graduated from Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts, and the Cathedral School of St. Mary, Garden City, NY.

Stephanie Cirami, Vice President of IAOTP states, “Choosing Joanne for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. Joanne has been an asset to any organization she has been involved with and has donated so much of her time and energy to benefit others and the community. I first met Joanne at a Garden City Chamber of Commerce Luncheon where I immediately was impressed with her.  She is passionate about what she does, has incredible positive energy, and is a force to be reckoned with.  We are truly honored to have her as our Top Female Executive Director of the Year and we know we will be seeing more great things from this woman!  I hope to meet her at the gala and I am personally nominating her for “Humanitarian of the Year for 2018.”

Looking back, Joanne attributes her success, to her love of helping people, her perseverance staying humble and gracious. She says her work is never finished and the best has yet to come.  For the future, she will continue to contribute to her community and improve and change the lives of people any way that she can.
