International Association of Top Professionals Recognizes FCA US Executive for Achievements in Manufacturing

May Leng Yau-Patterson, Head of World Class Manufacturing Mexico Operations for FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group), has been named "Top Professional of the Year in Manufacturing" for 2016-2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With over 30 years of professional experience in the logistics and manufacturing industry, May-Leng has established herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.   Starting as a Lead Logistics Analyst for Ryder Integrated Logistics in 1986, she worked her way up, assuming positions with increasing responsibility for prestigious companies that included Ryder Logistics, TNT Logistics, Exel Logistics and General Motors, before joining DaimlerChrysler (now FCA US) in 2004.

In her nearly 13 years with the Company, May-Leng has held a variety of positions including  Director Manufacturing Action Process, Director Advance Supply,  Director of Production Control & Advance Supply,  Head of Manufacturing Planning & Control.  As the current Head of World Class Manufacturing Mexico Operations, May-Leng is responsible for leading and coaching plant managers and their leadership teams at the assembly, engine and stamping plants in the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), a methodology that focuses on eliminating waste, increasing productivity and improving quality and safety in a systematic and organized way.  May-Leng is also a certified Global WCM Auditor who performs World Class Manufacturing audits at facilities around the world to coach plant leadership teams on the application of WCM methodology and tools in the manufacturing operations to achieve business results.  During the span of her career, May-Leng’s responsibilities encompassed overseeing Lean Manufacturing; Lean Production Methodology and Tools, Supply Chain Management; Logistics Management; Strategy Development; Purchasing; Material Handling & Packaging Solutions; Logistics Engineering and Industrial Engineering. 

May-Leng has been recognized worldwide and received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.  For the fourth year in a row, she was selected as Pinnacle Professional of the Year by Continental Who’s Who.  Other recognitions included being recognized as 2015 Prominent Professional Woman of The Year in the Automotive industry by Continental Who’s Who and featured in the January 2016 edition of Inner Circle Executive magazine, honored as a Delegate Featured Leader by the International Women’s Leadership Association, selected as a recipient of the Women of Color Achievement, named one of Automotive News’ 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry and awarded Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year as well as Empire Who’s Who Professional of the Year both in the automobile industry.  May-Leng also had a chapter dedicated to her in the 2011 edition of Top 101 Industry Experts and was featured in the Automotive News September 2010 edition.   

May-Leng earned both her Bachelor of Science in Systems Analysis and Master of Science in Operations Research from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.

Looking back, May-Leng attributes her success to her work ethic, experience, perseverance and passion for what she does.  When she is not working she enjoys biking, running and traveling with her family.
