Controversial N.W.A. manager Jerry Heller up for posthumous award at Miami Web Fest

The late Jerry Heller, controversial manager of N.W.A. depicted by Paul Giamatti in box office hit Straight Outta Compton, has been nominated for an award at the 3^rd Annual Miami Web Fest, to be held at the Flamingo Theater on Oct 1, 2016, for his part as featured guest in Diva Docs Web TV docuseries entitled  “Jerry Heller: The N.W.A. Chronicles”.

Mr Heller, who passed away on Friday September 2, after a heart attack resulting in an automobile accident, discusses in depth his account of the N.W.A. years with the ladies of Diva Docs, creator and producer Elisa O’Keefe-Smith, MBA, DBAc, producer Joy Edwards, NMD, MPH, and Uzma Khan, MD.

Should Jerry and the Diva Docs win the Talk Show category, it would be a posthumous awerd for the controversial music manager, and an award in Miami for the second year running for the Diva Docs, who won the Talk Show category for Diva Docs Season One in 2015.

On news of Heller’s death this past Friday evening, Diva Docs Creator O’Keefe-Smith noted  “Jerry was a true friend, a kind and good man, hilarious in his story telling. This man supported my vision for Diva Docs, just as he supported Eazy’s vision for N.W.A. all those year ago. Jerry Heller was a facilitator of dreams. I hope on news of Jerry’s death, Dr Dre and Ice Cube give him the credit and acknowledgement he deserves. I just know Eazy was waiting for Jerry at Heaven's doors, and they are now kicking back in Heaven together. Jerry loved Eazy as his own flesh and blood. I am forever grateful for all he did for the Diva Docs, his huge heart, and I so am glad we had the opportunity to present his truth.”

Jerry & the Diva Docs hit the ground running in 2016 with nominations at both Miami Web Fest and LA Web Fest for the The NWA Chronicles. The exclusive 3-episode interview series took place at Jerry’s house in Calabasas, the day before Straight Outta Compton was released to the public, the movie in which Jerry was played by actor Paul Giamatti. Jerry opens up about his relationships with NWA rappers Eazy-E, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, and more.
