Catherine Gruener receives Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)!

Catherine Gruener, M.A., M.A., LCPC, NCC, M.A. in Neuropsychology, M.A. in Professional Counseling, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Positive Discipline Educator (PDTC), Founder & President, Gruener Consulting LLC, was selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and "Top Clinical Professional Counselor of the Year" for 2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals. 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members are chosen for this distinction based on their years of experience in the field, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, and contributions to their communities.  These are truly incredibly talented professionals who have dedicated their life to their work and have had a lifetime of achievement and success!

Catherine was honored at the 2016 IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala, at the luxurious Garden City Hotel for being selected as “Top Clinical Professional Counselor of the Year.” IAOTP will be announcing her selection for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Annual Award Gala being held at the end of this year, and she will be receiving the Sapphire Diamond Crystal Tower engraved for her Lifetime of Achievement and Success.  She will also be on a billboard on the famous Reuters building in Times Square, NY at the end of February.

Catherine is being recognized for having over 2 decades of professional experience in the mental healthcare field. From teaching and research to clinical practice and social advocacy, Catherine exemplifies the range and reach of a clinical counselor.  She has taught numerous courses from introductory college classes to workshops on effective parent techniques, brain-behavior approaches, and the social and emotional issues of children, with private, state, and national institutions. She published her first book Parenting Young Gifted Children what to expect when you have the unexpected in 2016.  Her research initiatives span community wide Drug and Alcohol Needs Assessment in conjunction with John’s Hopkins University, early detection of Alzheimer’s disease through Loyola University Medical Center, to supporting PTSD research initiatives for veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom at the Veterans Administration. She has provided a range of clinical assessments and direct counseling services in inpatient, outpatient, and residential facilities across the U.S.  While overseas, as a counselor and research assistant at the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands Health Center, she received awards for her social advocacy, supporting people with disabilities. 

Offering clients counseling, education, and therapy to support expansion of conscious awareness so that people can capitalize on their strengths, perhaps learn new skills, and thrive in their lives, is a natural extension of her life path and personal history.  She is passionate about her work, supporting and encouraging the wellbeing of children, parents, adults and families, to positively effect communities.  Catherine attributes her success to her devotion to learning, collaboration with others, and her compassion for people.

Currently, she provides counseling, consultations, Cogmed coaching, professional speaking, and parent education through her private practice, Gruener Consulting LLC, in Oak Brook, Illinois. She is an active volunteer with causes related to the population of gifted children, and is affiliated with several national and state professional organizations including, the North American Society of Adlerian Professionals, the National Association for Gifted Children, the American Counseling Association, and the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.  Her specialties include counseling for children, parents, adults and families, Cogmed and executive functioning coaching, and supporting, teaching, and training effective parent techniques as an Adlerian, certified in Positive Discipline, with training in Parent Management from Yale University. 

Catherine has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. She has been inducted into Elite American Educators, Elite Women Worldwide, with inclusion of her biography in the 2017 Marquis Who’s Who.  She was honored as a lifetime member and “Outstanding Professional of the Year” by Cambridge Who’s Who, has been elected as a “Top Female Executive” three times since 2012, had a chapter dedicated to her in the “Top 101 Industry Expert publication,” and received recognition through Worldwide for a Lifetime Achievement.  In 2016 she was honored for her lifetime achievement as a professional, inducted as an honored Lifetime member of the International Association of Top Professionals and named “Top Clinical Professional Counselor of the Year.” 

Future endeavors include offering continued professional services through her private practice, publishing more supportive parent books, expanding her public speaking and education at professional conferences, and collaboration with others on webinar series focusing on expanding consciousness and bringing more consciousness into parenting.
