Animal Lover Launches Inclusive Pet Owners' Website, "The Contemporary Pet"

Lori Hilliard’s lifelong passion for animals recently culminated in her launch of “The Contemporary Pet,” a website and blog. The new site focuses on a variety of aspects of pet ownership from pet training tips and product reviews to emotional support when a beloved companion animal has passed away.

Hilliard explains, “As an animal lover, I’d joined various online chat groups, followed Facebook pages and visited pet forums. But each one had limitations that frustrated me. Some didn’t have any information from reliable pet experts, others made it difficult to connect with other users. Many sites are for dogs only or cats only. I wanted something more inclusive. There were also occasional problems with strife within Facebook groups. Some pet owners who asked questions or were mourning the loss of a pet they loved were harshly judged by other subscribers. It bothered me.”

“While talking to my husband about my frustration one night, I had an epiphany. Why shouldn’t I create the kind of pet website I wanted instead of waiting for someone else to do it? So I started networking with veterinarians, animal behaviorists, dog groomers and others in the industry and The Contemporary Pet was born.”
