Former tour leader continues to seek support for the Ugandan workers on tour in America, which includes 10 children under the age of 12, and two Ugandan adults.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - 09/01/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

David Graham, former tour leader for the Ugandan Kids Choir, resigned from his position at Childcare Worldwide due to what he believes is exploitation of Ugandan children (ages 7 to 12), and Ugandan adult employees who are on tour in America.

The children do not receive any pay for their work. The two adult Ugandan care givers, who are also the fulltime choir director and school teacher, are only payed 100.00 per week working very long hours and often 7 days a week. The Americans workers on the same tour are being paid a fair wage.

A complaint has been filed with the National Human Trafficking Center in hopes of causing change to the way the charity exploits the Ugandans for fund raising without rewarding them for the labor they perform. Federal non-immigrant worker rights are very clear that they should be paid federal minimum wage when working in America. How have they found a way around this?

David has set-up a GoFundMe page to help raise awareness and donations, which will go to the Ugandan workers of the tour directly.  David has personally donated nearly $1,000.00 to help them. “They deserve to be rewarded for their hard work. It is a shame that they raise thousands and thousands of dollars each week for the charity and then return to the same poverty that they came from. They are expected to be happy with working for food and shelter,” David said.
