Chukong Splits Off Cocos SDKBOX Game Operations Company, Announces Support for Unity and Unreal Game Engines

New SDKBOX entity launches with 2.0 update featuring new capabilities including receipt verification for in-app purchases, live ops controls, cloud-based game configuration management, and more.

MENLO PARK, CA - 2/11/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Chukong Technologies today announced plans to split off its revolutionary game operations platform, SDKBOX, as a separate entity from the parent company, which also operates the world’s largest open source mobile game engine, Cocos2d-x. Kai Zhao will lead the initiative with the new company. Chukong revealed that SDKBOX has begun supporting game engines from Unity Technologies and Epic Games with its latest 2.0 update. Earlier this month, the SDKBOX IAP controller was approved for sale and listed in the Unity Asset Store.

Chukong initially added the SDKBOX service to Cocos2d-x in July 2015. Since then, over 4,500 games on over 20 million mobile devices spread across geographic regions including China, Japan, the US, Ukraine, India, Russia and Turkey are already using the SDKBOX framework. SDKBOX supports industry leading services for mobile game production and operations, including analytics, user acquisition, monetization, advertising, compliance and more.

Haozhi Chen, CEO of Chukong Technologies, said: “Spinning off SDKBOX was the next logical step for scaling the business within the games industry. This move provides more autonomy for SDKBOX to support additional engines and grow market share in the live operations technology market for games. Additionally, the new company will have dedicated financial and strategic support from Chukong, and we’re looking forward to the future growth of this sector for our overall business.”

Kai Zhao, the new head of operations for SDKBOX, said: “Chukong is dedicated to providing mobile game developers with the tools and services critical for creating and growing games. Now with the spin off of SDKBOX as a standalone entity, we’ll be better positioned to focus resources and provide the widening spectrum of services that developers need to be competitive in the market.”

SDKBOX version 2.0 brings several new capabilities to developers including:
