Share Lawyers Join Syrian Refugee Cause: Giving Back
TORONTO, ON - 1/14/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Since November 4th, 2015, some 6,720 refugees have arrived in Canada with 4,000 more arriving in January 2016. Displaced by the ongoing Syrian civil war, millions of people are on the move throughout the world. Canada has committed to bringing up to 25,000 people into Canada through both private sponsorship and government-sponsored channels, as part of a global effort to relocate these people and give them an opportunity for a fresh start.
When Canada announced its commitment to bring in refugees affected by the Syrian crisis, Share Lawyers was inspired to make a contribution. While refugees and disability insurance claims seem unrelated, the team at Share Lawyers saw the commonality as people helping people, and made that their focus.
Further inspired by the giving nature of the holidays, Share Lawyers made a donation of $5,000 to help aid the Syrian refugees as they land in Canada. This month, the Share Lawyers Legal and Support Teams will also be hosting an additional fundraiser to help welcome these new families to Canada.
As there are still many refugees still to land in Canada, there are many ways to help. The Government of Canada has information and resources which detail out volunteer opportunities, sponsorship opportunities and processes, and organizations in need of donations which are all focused on helping the Syrian refugees.
