NEON SIGNS Has Launched A New E-Magazine On Arts and Culture
NEW YORK, NY - 9/3/2015 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Allison Krier, founder of Neon Signs has announced the online launch of Neon Signs. The bi-monthly magazine explores the many facets of art and culture from the 1960s to the present.
Neon Signs is an inspiring e-zine that will satisfy those who delight in creative writing and fresh perspectives on post-modern and contemporary art, design and culture; it strives to influence readers with a thought-provoking quality content. It provides unique perspectives and aspires to challenge notions of archetypal cultural criticism. The first issue is free with subsequent issues. The well-rounded and evocative online publication provides great material to rouse art enthusiasts around the world. Articles for issues will be curated around a particular theme expressed through in-depth feature articles, columns, reviews, image galleries, videos, and much more. What sets Neon Signs apart is the thematic focus for issues. Editors will also highlight their top picks for exhibitions and happenings. Neon Signs will cover topics in fine art, design, fashion, literature, film, music, and various arts. Krier avows that creative direction will drive writers to push their personal critiques, appreciation, substance and narrative.
The debut issue of Neon Signs is curated around the theme, “The Matter of Artificiality.” Articles include the digital expertise and innovative design process of architect Ammar Eloueini, a fascinating article by Michelle Labrague on the materiality of clothes and crafting identity through fashion, a profile on New York’s Dieu Donné Paper Mill and artist residency program, and an exploration of the use of banal materials in art and design examining the work of Dan Flavin, Sarah Sze, and Numen/For Use. Neon Signs also introduces columnist Michael Wiener, who affirms to challenge and interpret the cultural scene with original and provocative pieces. And Neon Signs is committed to providing a platform for original creative writing with new fiction and poetry. This first issue proudly publishes Ryan Healy’s lovely short story “Returns.”
The second issue “Recollections and Reckonings,” coming in October promises to be a unique reflection of memory and experience through art, material culture and other genres. Articles will be both personal accounts as well as historical.
Neon Signs will have its much anticipated launch party this September in Lower Manhattan. For details follow Neon Signs on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
