1/12/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Licor Zone ®. is diving into the highly competitive beer market dominated by a few major players, including Miller Coors and Anheuser-Busch InBev, which spend millions to cultivate a loyal following for their signature brands.
Brands such as Corona, Heineken, Budweiser, and Stella Artois are expected to pour into Licor Zone ® stores all over Mexico.
Prices will vary based on distribution costs and state and local alcohol taxes.
A 12-pack of a brand such as Bud Light would cost between $6 and $7 in most areas, said Ramon Sanchez Vega VP of Sales at Licor Zone ® .
Import Premium beers such as Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite will dominate sales of imported beers at Licor Zone ® - the third-largest beer retailer in the Mexico., while Mexican Premium brands beers like Corona , Modelo and Tecate will dominate the Mexican beers category in our stores.
But with recession-weary consumers looking for every avenue to cut back, the below-premium and imported beers make up the fastest-growing segment, Licor Zone ® said.
And though beer often is considered recession-proof, January 2016 production in the Mexico fell to its lowest level in at least two years - Still, Licor Zone ® sees the "Imported Beer" segment as an attractive niche for its entry.
"Our customer has been telling us for some time that they're looking for a more value-priced imported brand," Sanchez said. "In this tough economy, they're looking for value and ways to make their dollar go further."
The price point "is what's going to get customers to buy it," said Licor Zone spokeswoman Rosa de la Madrid.
She said most of the marketing for the beer will be in stores, as opposed to a national TV campaign.
