Corelli’s Christmas Concerto initiates the evening’s holiday flavor with its famous, and familiar, pastorale harkening the listener into the fields and pastures, staging for the angels’ proclamation. The performance also showcases two other Baroque gems, Vivaldi’s Il Gardellino Concerto for Flute, one of the composer’s most famous, and the incomparable Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 by Bach.
The Grace and Holy Trinity Choir joins the KCCO in the evening's finale, Vivaldi’s Gloria. "Gloria is one of the most beloved expressions of the angels’ heralding the nativity. The music is grand, reverent, and expressive, capturing the excitement of the season," says KCCO Music Director Bruce Sorrell.
