SALT LAKE CITY, UT - 12/8/2015 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Free skiing is available to people 65 and older this ski season at 97 resorts in 28 states. The free list of resorts offering free skiing is available at, the free online magazine for older skiers.

Many more resorts have deep discounts for older skiers. The editors of advise looking online or asking when purchasing lift tickets.

Each resort establishes the age threshold for free skiing, with the majority clustering around 70. Those who are 65 will qualify at Catalooche Ski Area and Wolf Ridge (NC), Cannon Mountain and McIntyre Ski Area (NH), Mt. Zion (MI), and Rotarun Ski Club (ID). 

Alta Sierra Ski Resort in California sets its age at 90, as did Welch Village Ski Area in Minnesota. At Alta, the venerable Utah resort high in the Wasatch Mountains, the age is 80. Locals joke that to qualify, you need a note from your mother.

The list is compiled by the National Ski Areas Association.
