Don't Let People Kiss Your Baby! ; The CBCD Explains the Dangers of Kissing and Oral Herpes

Babies are susceptible to infection with the herpes virus (HSV-1) when infected adults kiss them. A mother explained what happened when her baby was infected due to kisses from “a loving visitor” in an article published on MedicalDaily.com. “Before three months old, a baby cannot fight the herpes virus. If a baby contracts this it can cause liver and brain damage, and can lead to death … if my friend had not told me about this my baby girl could have been very seriously ill … we have now been in the hospital for three days on an (antiviral, I.V.) drip with another two days to go.” (1) The mother of this baby posted photos to Facebook, which showed her daughter with large cold sores, the tell-tale signs of an oral herpes infection. The mother continued, writing on Facebook that “The moral of the story is DO NOT let anyone kiss your newborn's mouth, even if they don't look like they have a cold sore - 85% of the population carry the virus.” (1)
This mother is correct, since a study published in the medical journal JAMA notes that “the prevalence of HSV-1 in several countries, particularly in the developing world, can be as high or higher than 85 percent of the population .” (1) The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals infected with the herpes simplex virus take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce herpes symptoms in two seperate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (2).
