TACOMA, WA - 12/19/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

For over two years Josh Penner, Veteran and owner of Core Values Consulting, partnered with Christy Alexander, LMHC, to deliver a professional development workshop focused on Understanding Military Sexual Trauma for support professionals throughout King County, Washington.  Over 240 participants attended the course and 94% of them rated it “excellent.”  As the funding for delivering these training opportunities in King County has expired, Josh & Christy are working diligently to provide for similar community conversations with Veterans advocates, educators, human resource administrators, behavioral health specialists, and social work professionals from around the country.

“Core Values Consulting and Milspec Advisory Group developed the Military Sexual Trauma  curriculum in 2014, in response to a local RFP.” Said Josh Penner, who delivers the Military Culture and Veterans Benefits portions of the course.  Penner added, “We’ve always seen this as something that could be packaged in a number of different ways.  The information and discussions we facilitated are just too valuable for any professional focused on, or even associated with, Veterans concerns not to be familiar with.  We learned a lot in regards to what works and what doesn’t as well as how to package the information for different audiences.  I’m confident we’ll be able to quickly setup similar but functionally different and better workshops on MST and other military & Veteran related experiences and trauma early in 2017.”

Penner noted as well that, “by the end of our second year, many facilities were asking us to come back again, and in one case for the third time.   I feel it’s probably because of the unique way that we discuss this and other topics.  And how we facilitate learning about military and Veteran issues in a safe environment.  We hope to be able to follow-up with them and other agencies, businesses, and forums that want this information in 2017.  And potentially even offer this as an online course for continuing education credits if we can find the right partner.”

According to Penner, Core Values Consulting is actively discussing several opportunities for agencies, organizations, and businesses to host in-house training events focusing on Veterans issues including Military Sexual Trauma, Culture, Benefits, Transition, and Crisis Intervention.

Agencies interested in hosting one of these events should contact Josh Penner at 253-987-6655 or josh@corevaluesconsutling.com.
