LONDON, UK - 07/06/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

UiPath announced today the partnership with the Finnish Government Shared Services Centre for Finance and HR, Palkeet, putting the Scandinavian agency on the front line of government organizations to implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

By the end of 2017, two dozen UiPath software robots will have been implemented, taking over repetitive and rules-based tasks previously performed by human staff. Agency sources estimate that repetitive manual labor will be reduced by half in the next years.

The process has started and the results are already visible with agency’s employees being able to focus more on “development and customer service work”, according to Eija Mikkonen, Palkeet’s Development Manager.

Pirjo Pöyhiä, Palkeet’s CEO, stated that “Automation, robotic process automation and artificial intelligence are going to alter the work we do now quite a bit and also it will sweep away a lot of the ways of working that we are used to.

UiPath specializes in creating a platform for RPA: software robots that are non-invasively integrated into the systems of their client organizations to replace the laborious and repetitive clerical tasks thus far performed by employees. The company has been deploying RPA across various industries and business processes and has been named a Global Leader and Star Performer in RPA by Everest Group, and an RPA industry leader in the “Forrester WaveTM Robotic Process Automation, Q1 2017”. UiPath is an overall winner at the CognitionX AI Innovation Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Enterprise Use of Artificial Intelligence and a winner of Best use of AI in Enterprise. The awards were founded by CognitionX, Market Intelligence for All Things AI, and recognize the best use of Artificial Intelligence in specific industry sectors and technology domains, as well as applications in Social Good, Public Services, and Ethics Leadership.

Rather than replacing employees with robots, process automation provided by UiPath is working to the benefit of the people. Organizations report that RPA results in professionals spending more time focusing on strategic work, such as data analytics, interacting with clients, making judgment calls and getting more creative.

Palkeet’s personnel was interested in robotics and was fully involved in the automation planning, right from the start. Jani Oinonen, a Service Specialist at Palkeet, was one of the employees that had suggestions and ideas for further uses of robotics, and said that “if robots could make decisions for themselves, I’d definitely want to be involved in the development of those.
