MT HOLLY, NJ - 08/29/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Inside an abandoned warehouse within the heart of Mount Holly New Jersey’s art district, the Mill Race Theatrical Company has been working on a secret project for the past three years.  Their goal?  To raise the spirit of legendary American author Edgar Allan Poe using the latest in projection technology.

Half shadow-play and half one-man show, The Poe Project will focus on the mysteries surrounding Edgar Allan Poe's death including the savage post-mortem attacks from Poe's literary nemesis, Rufus Griswold.  As Poe sinks into madness, the audience will be immersed in a high-tech projection show exploring Poe's life and the legends we've all come to believe.

“Our mission is to show the ‘experience generation’ that Theater doesn’t have to be the same warmed-over plays from the ‘60s and ‘70s.  We want to give them something original!  Shows like Oklahoma will always be around, but we have the opportunity and the technology to show our audience something they literally cannot experience at home,” Tom Greenfield, 25 year stage & screen veteran and president of the Mill Race Theatrical Company.

The Poe Project is a limited run engagement with performances on Friday and Saturday nights between September 30 and November 5.  Directions, show times, and tickets are available on The Mill Race Theatrical Company’s website at www.millracetheatricalcompany.com  For more information, please contact Tome Wilson, Lead Producer of The Mill Race Theatrical Company at tome@millracetheatricalcompany.com or call 609-288-2713.

Notes for the editor:

The Mill Race Theatrical Company is a brand new 3,000 sq ft immersive theater and music venue located at 30 Church Street in Mt Holly, NJ.  As a non-profit company, the Mill Race staff focuses on original works that are accessible regardless of race, age, culture, income, or disability.  Since 2013, they have been restoring an abandoned warehouse complex in an effort to transform Mt Holly into a center for art and education.  As part of that mission, Mill Race volunteers receive free access to life-long learning classes taught by professionals in the fields of acting, costume creation, script writing, special effects, public speaking, carpentry, music technology, projection technology, and more.

The theater itself is a seed project for a larger town center being planned by the 30 Church Street Development Group.  Once completed, the 65,000 sq ft Eagle Foundry Town Center will include space for entertainment, catering, retail stores, brewery & distillery tasting rooms, artist studios, and apartments.  Plans are currently in motion with the Mt Holly Land Use Board with an estimated kick-off in 2017.
