The Parimatch Premier Cup goes international - will be held in Qatar in February 2020

The off-season friendly football tournament organized by TV channel MATCH PREMIER will be held in Doha, Qatar from February 1 to 9. Three Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs and a Serbian team will play the matches in the Aspire Academy sports complex. The official sponsor of the tournament will be the betting company Parimatch.          

The Parimatch Premier Cup, traditionally organised by TV channel MATCH PREMIER, goes international this season. In February, three RPL clubs and an 8-time Serbian champion club will take part in this new winter off-season tournament. The Russian Premier League will be represented in the Cup by Rostov, Spartak, Lokomotiv and Partizan Belgrade, the 8-time Serbian champions. The games will be played at the Aspire Academy sports complex in Doha. 

The capital of Qatar was chosen as the best place to hold these winter fixtures because of its modern facilities and comfortable climate - at this time of year the air temperature hardly rises above +25°C, and the academy is equipped with modern climate control systems.

The tournament structure will be the same as previous editions: each team will play three games and in the case of a draw, there will be a penalty shootout. Teams will get three points for a win in regular time, two points for a win on penalties, and one point for losing on penalties. If teams are tied at the end of the games, goal difference will be used to separate them. If they are still tied at that point, final standings will be based on the head-to-head results.

For the second time in a row, the title sponsor of the championship will be the betting company, Parimatch.

The winner of the first MATCH PREMIER tournament in January 2019 in Qatar was Spartak, and the Parimatch Premier Cup in Austria in July was won by Krasnodar.
