ANN ARBOR, MI - 11/05/2019 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Swift Biosciences, Inc, a leader in library preparation for Next-Generation Sequencing announces the addition of Steven Riedmuller to its leadership team, as Director of Field Application Services. Steven is uniquely suited to spearhead the FAS division with his experience and leadership at Maxygen, Synthetic Genomics, Hudson Robotics and TIGR. While at Synthetic Genomics, Hudson Robotic and TIGR Steve was responsible for managing instrument businesses and sequencing workflow.  Steve has more than 20 years’ experience in automation in molecular biology and focusing on customer and ways to make customers more productive.

Swift entered the Next-Gen market in 2013 with novel library kits used for ultra-low and precious sample types of DNA.  Over the last year Swift has introduced new products for production laboratories, genome centers and core facilities that process whole genome, whole exome, RNA and library normalization methods.   Swift’s innovative technologies, ability to customize its packaging, economical pricing and its ability to automate its products enable its customers to be more efficient and productive. Swift’s overall product portfolio supports a variety of applications and sample types from Ancient DNA, Single Cell Methyl-Seq to Ultra-Low Input ChiP, HiC, WGS, RNA and libraries using FFPE and liquid biopsy.

“Swift has seen a substantial growth trajectory this year with strong double-digit growth and fast adoption of many of our new products and broadening of our customer base. We now have over 500 customers across the globe.” said Nathan Wood, President, and CEO. Wood attributes the explosive growth to recent agreements with large service providers, production laboratories and OEM agreements.

Steven's role as Director of Field Application Services will further enable Swift to service and partner with customers that require automation and custom packaged kits that offer reproducible results and reduced setup.   “In my experience,” says Steven, “production laboratories, genome centers and core laboratories need library kits that are affordable and efficient.  Anything we can do to reduce sample preparation time through automation allows more time for sequencing and using the results to impact and improve the health of individuals around the world, in the fight against cancer and other inherited diseases.  I am looking forward to the exciting opportunities and challenges ahead”
