Stacey Tompkins To Be Featured at CONEXPO Conference In Las Vegas

Stacey Tompkins, President of Tompkins Excavating will be featured on two industry panels along with other experts at the CONEXPO Conference, highlighting the important role and contributions that women have made to the construction industry. 

Stacey will be featured on two panels: Ask the Influencers Panel Discussion and Meetup with Instagram’s Most Popular Construction Minds and also including panelists Aaron Witt (President of BuildWitt Media Group) and Missy Scherber, (T.Scherber Demolition Excavating Roll-Offs). The second session, Widening Your Workforce, Executive Lunch Forum featuring Ms. Tompkins, Kelly Ottman (Leadership and Corporate Coach), Kelly Tomblin (Chief Executive Officer at INTREN LLC), and Nora A. Degnan (Vice President/Business Development at Thorne Associates, Inc.). 

In addition, to help highlight women as a viable force of the construction industry, CONEXPO-CON/AGG announced a partnership with two women in construction-focused associations; The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Women of Asphalt (WOFA).

“As the largest construction industry-focused trade show in North America, CONEXPO-CON/AGG seeks to draw attention to and celebrate the important role women play in the industry,” said Dana Wuesthoff, vice president of expositions and event services with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and CONEXPO-CON/AGG show director. 

Stacey, as President of Tompkins Excavating, is not only involved in a flourishing family business, but as a woman in a predominantly male industry, has gained the respect and admiration of those clients doing business with Tompkins Excavating throughout Westchester County.

And giving back to the community, in monetary donations and by doing physical things, like actually getting involved has been important to the employees at the company. Tompkins has been involved in Habitat for Humanity, Putnam Valley Central School District, Jan Peek House, Community Cares of Mahopac, Community Center of Northern Westchester, Project Yellow Light, Support Connection and the Lustgarten Foundation among others.

Tompkins Excavating has also been volunteering with Boards of Cooperative Education Services of New York State (BOCES). Stacey’s son, Kevin, represents the future of the company and has personally been involved in teaching students and introducing them to the construction and engineering aspects of the industry.

Kevin has attended classes, even brought some “hands on” experience bringing a bulldozer to school. Kevin also serves as a mentor for the students.

Stacey is an active member of the Business Council of Westchester, the Building Owners and Managers Association, Westchester County, Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the Building and Realty Institute of Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region. 

Under her leadership, Tompkins Excavating has received a number of prestigious awards, including the Business Council of Westchester’s 2019 Hall of Fame – Women in Business Success, New York State Senate’s 2019 Women of Distinction, Women in Leadership Award from The Putnam County Chambers of Commerce (2018), Business of the Year from the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce (2017), New York and New Jersey Brava Award Honoree (2017), 914 Inc. magazine’s Women in Business Award (2016), a Family-Owned Business Award from Westfair Communications (2016), a Cornerstone Award from Habitat for Humanity (2015) and a Mature Trailblazer award from Putnam County Chambers of Commerce (2013).

Stacey earned a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Oneonta and lives in Putnam Valley with her husband Mark and three sons, Kevin, Justin and Michael all of whom play an important role in the family business.
