FORT WORTH, TX - 10/31/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Southside Bank, one of the largest locally-based financial institutions in North Texas, recently announced that Mark Drennan was promoted to President of the North Texas Region on September 30, 2017. Drennan joined Southside as Executive Vice President, Commercial Lending for the North Texas Region earlier this year.

His new role further solidifies Southside’s plans to grow its commercial footprint and become the premier commercial bank for clients in the North Texas Region.

“We’re very excited to announce Mark’s promotion to this vital role. We know he will continue to grow and develop the bank’s commercial business, particularly in the healthcare segment,” said Lee Gibson, Chief Executive Officer. “Our goal is to be the commercial bank of choice in North Texas. With Mark at the helm in this important region, Southside Bank will only continue to prosper.”

Mark Drennan brings more than 17 years of banking experience to this new role. His extensive background includes commercial banking, managing a commercial real estate group and starting and managing a healthcare and seniors housing banking team.

Drennan is very active in community organizations. He previously served as Board Chair for Leadership Fort Worth and is also a graduate of the program. He also served on the Vision Fort Worth Advisory Council (part of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce), the Texas Health Resources Research and Education Council and the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Metropolitan YMCA. He is active in the National Investment Center for Senior Housing and the Healthcare Financial Management Association, among others.

Drennan, a Fort Worth-area native, is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and also earned his MBA, with a concentration in finance and real estate, at the same university. In addition, Drennan graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the top banking schools in the country.

He is enthusiastic about his new role with Southside. As Drennan explains, “Southside presents a unique opportunity for commercial clients. We are at heart a community bank, which allows us to make quick, nimble decisions and stay connected to our clients. We are also large enough and have the products and services to be a strategic partner that can facilitate impactful growth.”
