Share Lawyers, Ontario’s leading disability insurance law firm, are pleased to announce the successful completion of a case for Joanne, whose name and details have been changed for confidentiality when she was denied her long-term disability benefits.

Joanne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease five years ago. Despite this diagnosis, Joanne did not slow down and continued working.

More recently, when her symptoms worsened and began affecting her ability to work, Joanne was shocked that her insurance company denied her long-term disability claim.

“The insurance company even claimed there wasn’t enough medical evidence to support my not returning to work,” said Joanne.

“I felt bullied by my insurance company.”

It was a television ad that led Joanne to call Share Lawyers. The lawyers at Share Lawyers gathered more specific medical information about Joanne’s condition and then argued that Joanne was entitled to her long-term disability benefits in spite of the fact that she had worked for many years with the disease. The team successfully represented Joanne and won her case at mediation.

“We were very pleased with the results of Joanne’s case. She will be able to focus on healing,” said Share Lawyers president, David Share.

Joanne has since received the benefits she was entitled to, and continues to manage her Parkinson’s symptoms.
