San Antonio Barnes & Noble to Hold Local Author’s First Book Signing

Texas Native Publishes Young Adult Novel based on Life Experiences

Cibolo native Kathryn Cervera is holding a book signing at the Northwoods Shopping Center Barnes & Noble in San Antonio on Nov. 2. Cervera will be signing copies of her debut young adult novel “Who is It?” that was published by eBooks2go on Sept. 20. 

“Who is It?” begins with John Dolton, a high school basketball phenom who falls in love with the new girl at his school. After a few dates, he is stunned to learn that Lisa is pregnant and that her parents are charging him with reckless endangerment. Instead of pursuing a scholarship, he has to spend the next four years in military school. Dolton misses Lisa while they are apart, and 13 years later, he gets a golden opportunity to win her back when he discovers he will be teaching Lisa’s daughter in the upcoming semester.

Cervera knew early on that she wanted to be a writer. She carried around a notebook with her everywhere, and vividly recalls that at the age of five, she gazed at her parents’ computer and thought how cool it would be to fill the screen with words. Eight years later, she began writing the first draft for “Who is It?”   

“The inspiration came to me because of my situation,” said Cervera, “I'm adopted and my birth mother had me when she was 15 years old. When I was 13, I thought what would have happened had she decided to keep me?” 

Festivities for Cervera’s book signing will begin at 2:00 p.m. Cervera’s book is available in paperback and eBook formats worldwide on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
