RVA Creates New Tacky Lights Tour Website

For more than 30 years Richmond, Virginia has arguably and organically created the world’s largest art installation called the Tacky Lights Tour. It may also be responsible for the most concurrent December traffic jams in cul-de-sacs.  Every year hundreds of homeowners overload their homes Christmas lights oftentimes sequenced to music sometimes broadcasted from their own personal radio stations.  Now, the Christmas light capital of the world has a new website at http://www.tackylightstour.com that provides families with more information and features than any other website about the Christmas light phenomena in Richmond, Virginia.

The new website is growing daily yet already features hundreds of reviews, pictures and videos of Richmond’s best Christmas displays.  Each home on TackyLightsTour.com has between 10,000 to 1.5 million Christmas lights in Virginia.  Fans can save displays online they plan to visit in-person and generate custom driving directions before loading up the family van.

The tour helps the local community.  In addition to steadily employing tour bus and limousine services, many of the displays raise money or items for local charities like the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad.  Some are charitable towards national non-profits like Lighthouse Family Retreat and the Make-a-wish Foundation.  A list of charitable displays can be found on the site as well as by looking at the details of each display.
