Redblock introduces a unique new shower niche shelf; Creating more shower storage and piece of mind.

Redblockindustries.com today announced its N1014 shower storage niche; A finished (brushed stainless steel) shower niche shelf that includes features not found in other types of shower niches: an integrated shelf for soap and accessories (with a washcloth hanger) in addition to the standard shower niche bottom shelf; the M-block™ waterproofing flange; and the perimeter tiling flange to create a finished edge for tile work. Meant to be installed in new bathroom construction projects or full-remodels, the Redblock niche was designed as an alternative to a tiled niche, but with more utility, and security against water infiltration and mold.

The Redblock niche was designed by Steve Gehrmann, a remodelling pro from SKG Renovations, trying to improve upon existing finished and tiled niche designs. Tiled shower niches shelves have traditionally been custom-built into the shower wall with careful attention to water proofing, before being tiled. The Redblock niche has the M-block™ flange which is used for mounting and bonding to the shower wall and membrane; this ensures a quick installation and a perfect water seal. “I felt the industry needed a simple-to-install, and attractive shower storage fixture with waterproofing incorporated into it's design” Steve said.

Traditional tiled shower niches normally incorporate metal tile-edging to provide a finished look around the perimeter of the niche. As an alternative to a tiled niche, the Redblock niche incorporates the tile edge into it's design. “Good tile edging is meticulous work for the installer, so I thought that a well concieved finished niche product should include a finished tile edge” says Steve.

Redblock Industries LLP is a small company formed in Washington State by brothers Dave and Steve Gehrmann to develop the Redblock bath and shower niche. Redblock has plans to design more innovative products for use in the kitchen and bath.
