Racing Drone Used For Award-Winning Film

Croatian drone pilot Kreso Saric has been flying racing drones for years. Now his experience as a pilot is paying off in a big way.

Saric was the latest winner of the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week contest, which awards $1,000 each week to the top video uploaded to AirVuz.com. Saric, whose pilot name is Sekile, won for his video “Harmony Drone Lines.”

In the winning video, Saric’s drone flies around a moving motorcycle and dirt bikes, as well as zipping through trees. He combined the drone footage — shot with a GoPro — with footage from his Sony A6300.

It was the third time an FPV (first-person view) video took home the weekly prize in the AirVuz contest. Pilot JZFPV won for his video that featured an X-Games gold medal-winning skateboarder. And FPV novice Nicholas Gaillard’s first video filmed with his mini quad also took home the $1,000 weekly prize for “FPV - Maiden Flight.”

Saric’s video was the latest example of how racing drones are being combined with action sports to create unique and thrilling footage. AirVuz put together a curated collection of videos like “Harmony Drone Lines” that showcase how drones and action sports mix.

The Drone Video of the Week contest follows the success of the inaugural AirVuz Drone Video Awards, which selected the best drone videos and photos of 2017. Voters chose winners in 13 categories from a total of more than 33,000 videos.
