Patience, Passion and Butter: Lockport’s Favorite Independent Bakery Celebrates 2 Years in Business

Cakes XO is a proudly independent bakery based in Lockport IL, specializing in delicious and artfully designed specialty cakes. The shop is experiencing sweet success, celebrating their second year in business on July 1^st 2016.
Owner, Joanne has worked in the baking industry for over 10 years, and stepped out on her own to open Cakes XO once she discovered her passion for imaginative cake design. Over the last two years, her and her team of 6 qualified bakers have crafted culinary marvels like purple ombre frosted wedding cakes, birthday cupcake towers and even an elaborate cartoon character cake or two.

Cakes XO is also heavily involved in the community, donating to and participating in events for charities like The Mark Staehely Pediatric foundation, Watts of love, Love your Melon,  Lockport Township High school and District 91 as well as Lockport libraries, Montessori School of Lemont, Flip Star Gymnastics Academy, Cornerstone Services, Girl Scouts Troop 71005, and St. Dennis Church, to mention a few.

When asked what the secret to a successful independent bakery is, Joanne’s answer was simple:

 “Patience, passion and a whole lot of good butter. Butter makes everything better!”

2 Year Celebrations: Free Cake Friday

On July 1^st, to say thanks for 2 years of community support – all patrons who visit the bakery will receive a free slice of the shop’s signature favorite – salted caramel cake.
