Executive with deep experience in value-based care and driving return on complex healthcare IT solutions charged with envisioning solutions that advance care for large, clinically-integrated networks

Gabriel Orthous has been named Chief Information Officer for Central Georgia Health Network (CGHN), a large and growing clinically-integrated network representing more than 1,100 independent physicians, healthcare professionals and hospital partners across Central Georgia. In his new role, Orthous is responsible for driving return on investment for healthcare IT solutions that advance care, reduce costs and enable physicians to do what they do best: care for patients.

Orthous is an industry executive who leverages his deep experience in value-based care to scale and drive return on complex healthcare IT solutions. He applies his knowledge to positively impact quality-based reimbursement for accountable care organizations (ACO), patient-centered medical homes (PCMH) and community quality management by using tools that advance clinical integration, workflow automation and semantic interoperability. Helping large healthcare systems and insurer organizations develop analytics strategies that are effective in raising quality levels, improving outcomes and reducing costs is Orthous’s hallmark.

“As healthcare continues to evolve, we look to technological tools to enhance and support the important work that our physicians do in caring for patients.  Gabriel helps us harness the power of this technology in a way that is meaningful and applicable, and that makes a difference in our greater mission,” said Dr. Freddy Gaton. “Having him lead these efforts as our CIO will help us in our goal to become one of the most advanced clinically-integrated networks in the country.”

Orthous also serves as adjunct professor in Sacred Heart University’s Informatics Department Masters Program, and is an active contributor as a subject matter expert for Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies. He is the co-author of SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence: The Comprehensive Guide.

Orthous is a graduate of Florida State University’s College of Business, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems.  He earned his MBA from the Stetson School of Business and Economics at Mercer University, from which he graduated with honors.
