Mahmoud Zuaiter, CEO for Jordan Projects for Tourism Development has been named “TOP CEO of the Year in the Tourism Industry” for 2016-2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With over 27 years of professional experience in the Hospitality, Real Estate Development and Tourism industry, Mahmoud has certainly proved himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, he has demonstrated success by driving profitable growth of revenue and developing high performance teams for all the companies he previously worked for.   Mahmoud has provided visionary leadership in the highly competitive hospitality and tourism industry and has climbed the ranks through several leadership roles at the previous companies employed.  In 1990 while putting himself through college, he started as a night receptionist in the Intercontinental Hotels Group (Intercontinental, Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn).  He was then promoted with that Organization to the position of Area Director of Finance Middle East and Africa. After 14 and half years with IHG, Mahmoud was recruited by the Orascom Development Holding AG, in 2004, as CFO for the Hotels Company and then promoted to Group CFO.  In 2012 he then was promoted to CEO for the Hotels Division for the group; responsible for operating 31 Hotels in 4 countries in ME and 11 Hotels under development within the MENA region and Western Europe.

His key responsibilities as CEO includes but is not limited to handling Corporate Finance, Governance, Management and Legal, Investment Development, Asset Management, Financial Engineering, Contract Management, Supervision and Negotiation, Corporate Strategy Development and Implementation.  Mahmoud received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Columbus University in 2004, and attended in Munich the Garmish Partin-Kirchen College (University) for Hotel Management.

Mahmoud frequently is asked to speak worldwide regarding management and development and he has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2009 he was named “CFO of the Year by NASEBA.  In 2015 he was inducted into Bristol Who’s Who named “Outstanding Member of the Year” and in 2016 inducted and named “Top Chief Executive Officer of the Year in Hospitality & Tourism” by the International Association of Top Professionals.

 Looking back, Mahmoud attributes his success to his passion for speed, results, finding solutions, creating new ideas and setting high standards with strong multi?functional teams.  He says being born in the Middle East and educated in Germany, gave him a good understanding of different cultures and to have an appreciation for change and diversity. For the future, he will continue to grow as a professional and wants to improve technology use, maximize investment values and all under saving the environment.
