Macken Companies Sponsors 2017 Heart Health Walk in North Miami Beach

At a City Commission meeting on March 21st, the City of North Miami Beach and The Commission on the Status of Women recognized Macken Companies for again serving as the Presenting Sponsor of the City’s 4th Annual Heart Health Walk. Macken Companies Director Monte Greenberg accepted a plaque from Councilwoman Beth E. Spiegel, the event liaison, during the City Commission meeting. The event, which took place on Saturday, February 25th at the Gwen Margolis Amphitheater, comprised of a 2.6-mile walk with the goal of building awareness to heart disease in women. According to the American Heart Association, more women die from heart disease than from all female-related cancers combined.

The Greater North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce also sponsored a free Health Fair at the event. This free, family-friendly event brought together hundreds of people from all age groups. The walk started and ended at the amphitheater and followed the paved trails on the banks of the Snake Creek Canal, one of the most beautiful and safest walking/biking trails in South Florida.

The Health Fair included local health care professionals providing free health screenings, and fitness trainers provided free group exercise routines for attendees.
