The Kiosk Industry Association, aka Kiosk Industry Group, announces that nominations are now being accepted for the Kiosk Hall of Fame. Nominations should focused on the people who have made extraordinary contributions to the self-service industry, whether as designers, manufacturers or deployers. Nominations may be emailed to craig@catareno.com

As the manager of Kiosk Association puts it, “It’s important that along with encouraging the regulatory guidelines and best practice design engineering, we recognize the extraordinary people who truly are the industry.”

The last induction cycle two years ago included:

This year the Association is including a special recognition category for media and the writers, editors and tradeshow producers who have contributed to industry. Our current candidates include: James Vande Castle, Kiosk Magazine, and Mary Carlin, Edgell Publications. Also included is a special posthumous recognition for James Bickers, who died in October 2016. Bickers was among the first editors of Kiosk Marketplace and the creator and founding editor of Digital Signage Today.

Kiosk Current Candidates

The Association will continue to gather nominations for the near future. Candidates will be voted for online, and new inductees will be announced at Digital Signage Expo (DSE) in March 2017 in Las Vegas. Nominations may be emailed to craig@catareno.com.

NEXTEP Candidate Preview

One of the candidates this year is Tommy Woycik of NEXTEP SYSTEMS. NEXTEP provides self-order software for food and restaurants.

NEXTEP is in the news this month with its all-new touchscreen drive-thru ordering system, the DT5. With a flexible footprint, improved ergonomics, and a lower total cost of ownership, the DT5 will help streamline operations for concepts with limited space and/or budgets. The DT5 also integrates seamlessly with the rest of NEXTEP’s product suite, including POS and mobile ordering.  With NEXTEP’s POS, restaurant employees see orders in real-time and process those orders intuitively, thereby speeding up drive-thru operations. Additionally, guests can order from their mobile devices and use the DT5 to tell the restaurant that they have arrived to pick up their orders.

Watch the video, Equalizing the Drive Thru, to see how the Touchscreen Drive Thru makes the ordering experience identical for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and any other guest, truly eliminating any stigma or discrimination.
