WASHINGTON, DC - 10/31/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Brian M. Mulholland has announced that the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation, Inc. (jsmff.org) will hold its third annual gala dinner and silent auction, “A Capital Evening III” on Friday, November 18, 2016 at The Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.

The Gala is being chaired by Jodi Moraru of EVOKE, David Piscola of the Capital Hilton and Patrick Gex of ABB. The event begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 7:30 p.m. Entertainment is being provided by Radio King Orchestra’s Combo. The event is produced by EVOKE with the support of notable corporate sponsors, including GREYSTONE.

Among the awards to be presented is the first Lifetime Achievement Award to Stephen Rosenberg, Founder and CEO of Greystone (greyco.com) who started one of America’s most successful companies with a telephone on top of an unpainted wood door held atop two rusty file cabinets located in the back of a friend’s music store. Throughout their storied history, 50% of the company profits are donated to charity, and the employees of the company decide which charities.

The John S. Mulholland Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity, 100% volunteer, which collects non-perishable food from area schools, churches, civic organizations and companies and delivers them to food pantries (so far more than 300,000 cans) in the poorest neighborhoods of inner city Washington. With monetary donations, the Foundation purchases and delivers fresh produce, milk and eggs, meat and poultry (so far over 13 tons).  According to the federal government, Washington, D.C. has a 13.4% food insecurity rate (the number doubles among children), with the majority of these individuals and families residing in the neighborhoods the Foundation serves – Southeast and Northeast Washington.

“We are certainly not solving the problem of feeding the poor, but we are contributing to the solution,” stated JSM Chairman Brian M. Mulholland. “Thousands have responded to our call for help, and this, coupled with the many other organizations successfully tackling the issue, means that the burdens our neighbors face every day are being addressed in a compassionate and dignified manner.”

Tickets, available on the Foundation website (jsmff.org) or by calling 202.827.9997, are $225.
