United States, California, Los Angeles - 03/19/2020 (PRESS RELEASE JET)
Director Leia will teach kids not only how to count but also what counts in life.
Leia Joaquin and her husband, Anthony, have officially opened the doors of the newest JEI Learning Center in Manhattan Beach, California, a supplementary learning program for students in grades pre-K through ninth.
Joaquin brings nearly 20 years of experience working with and teaching children embracing the philosophy that all children are capable of reaching their personal goals in all aspects of education. Joaquin got personally involved in her five young children’s education by researching and participating in private, public, and homeschool sectors focusing on the benefits of Common Core. She spent a lot of time volunteer teaching, researching, and testing multiple methods in education before discovering the JEI Self-Learning Method®.
“I researched over 20 curricula before I found JEI’s model,” Joaquin said. “When I opened the workbooks from JEI, I immediately saw the ideas and blend of critical thinking that encompassed the Common Core. The approach to reading, writing, and math problems was superior to any of its kind.”
The Joaquin family was happy to be able to guide, support, and encourage their children through JEI but wanted to share their happiness. Joaquin said, “I saw the excitement in my children’s eyes when they were working through the JEI workbooks, and I knew this was something I had to bring to their peers and to all the young learners of our Manhattan Beach community!”
Joaquin opened her very own JEI Learning Center to do just that and looks forward to bringing the JEI workflow and education building tools to the South Bay. On the impact she wants to make, Joaquin said, “Teaching kids to count is good, but teaching them what counts is the best lesson of all!”
Before becoming JEI Learning Center’s newest Franchisee and Center-Director, Joaquin spent 10 years with BioRad Laboratories and started Americare Assisted Living with her husband, a service that has cared for over 400 seniors in the South Bay area. She has a Bachelor’s degree in biology and physiological science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Since 1977, JEI Learning Center has been a world-renowned leader in supplementary education helping children become empowered learners. "A Better Life through Better Education"? is the philosophy which is embedded in JEI’s internationally acclaimed JEI Self-Learning Method. The JEI Self-Learning Method builds confidence in children and enables them to reach their full potential with its unique individualized, step-by-step study program. Through state-aligned curriculum, JEI programs help children succeed in math, reading and writing, English, and critical thinking.
