Newport Beach, Orange County, California – Ms. America 2017 Oksana Vovk was a special quest at the 11th Annual Red Dress Gala organized by UC Irvine Alpha Phi at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.

“I felt compelled to attend this beautiful and meaningful event”, Vovk said. “I inquired with the organizers and received an immediate response and invitation to the event that aimed to raise funds to fight heart disease, to which I lost my father 3.5 years ago. Today heart disease is a number one killer of women in the United States”, Vovk continued, “cardiovascular disease, which includes heart disease, hypertension and stroke, is the number one killer of women, according to the American Heart Association. It kills half a million American women each year, and that figure exceeds the next seven causes of death combined.”

Vovk, who was crowned as Ms. America 2017 on September 3, 2016 at the Curtis Theatre in Brea, California, is a busy defense attorney and a single mother of a 20-year-old son with autism.  As Ms. America 2017 and a national titleholder, she is advocating her platform on fight against autism and promotion of organic living.

I am already invited to the next year’s event and I will definitely attend again. It’s all about the heart.”
