ONTARIO, CANADA - 01/15/2018 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

With Facebook’s proposed change announced on January 11, 2018, brands were left in a panic about how to stay relevant and being seen by their audiences on the current largest social media platform around.

Digital media strategist, Stacy Maynard (http://stacymaynard.com ) shares the answer in her January 2018 article titled “ Why Social Stories Are Your Success Gold.” (https://empiher.press/socailstories ) originally featured in EmpiHER™ magazine (http://empiher.co ).

Maynard is not surprised by Facebook’s announcement because social media is about connection and engagement. And for many brands, they had become focused on the number of posts that were going out vs the engagement actually occurring on their page.

To increase page engagement, Maynard says, “ Tell your story using “stories” to strengthen your brand.”

She goes on to say, “Storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to give your products or services an identity. Stories capture who you are and take customers on a journey from where you have been to where you are today. Stories are personal. Think about how your brand was born, what inspired you to create your company and what your personal mission is. Most of all think about the needs of the audience. And use the story you tell to meet these needs and share your mission.”

Maynard believes that the way your brand stays seen and engaged with as these Facebook changes take place is by, “Creating an authentic story of your brand isn’t just an important part of your social media strategy. It should be the bulk of your social media strategy.”

With the modern-day plethora of cameras around at any one time, Maynard states that there is no excuse for a brand to not stay relevant and seen no matter what Facebook or any other social media platform does.

Maynard suggests three key ways to keep a brand’s story being seen: (1) Go live, (2) Rid yourselves of perfectionism for a more real version of our brands, and (3) Stay on point to what your brand is about.
