HEBBRONVILLE, TEXAS - 12/13/2018 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Hellas Construction is installing Matrix® turf in Jim Hogg County following a $6 Million bond that passed in Hebbronville. The Longhorns of Hebbronville High School are excited about new football, softball and baseball fields with cushdrain plus a new track."The future of Jim Hogg County ISD athletics and Hebbronville community athletics has been catapulted to a whole new level. There is an excitement in the air, that has been long overdue,” says Dr. Susana P. Garza, who is the Superintendent at Jim Hogg County ISD.

The ecotherm™ infill is made from recycled vinyl TPU and cellulose fibers. The uniquely shaped ecotherm™ granules pull moisture from the air to reduce field surface temperatures by as much as 20 degrees compared to a synthetic turf with black crumb rubber. Cooling off the 7-5 Horns in the August heat will be a relief for a team that reached the second round of the playoffs in 2018. Hebbronville will also stay safe with a cushdrain® pad, which is a monolithic, paved into place, elastic layer, providing extra cushion and helping reduce concussions.

New baseball and softball fields will be ready for opening day in the Spring of 2019. Hellas Construction’s new baseball product Major Play with Helix Technology awaits the Longhorns when Hebbronville plays ball in February. New dugouts, batting cages, backstop netting and fencing is part of the baseball renovations.“All students and the community will benefit from this state-of-the-art renovation,” added Garza.

A new epiQ Track® V300 will arrive directly from the Hellas Polymer factory and be installed by the Hellas installation crew around the football field in the fall of 2019. The layout and design markings of the non-petroleum-based epiQ Track®are in accordance with the latest edition of the IAAF, NCAA, and UIL rules and regulations.Garza says, “This upgrade in facilities is most definitely going to be a positive addition to our current fields and will compliment other recent upgrades and future ones to come.”
