Created by, then, 12-year-old software developer Eric Zeiberg, HandySpeech has given users across the globe the ability to speak again. HandySpeech takes words hand-written by the user and speaks them aloud on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

"I invented HandySpeech to give a voice to people who are unable to speak,” said Eric Zeiberg. “The application is dedicated to courageous people who struggle every day to overcome their disabilities. People with speech and language disabilities who live with oral, neck, head, or larynx cancer, unable to speak due to muscular dystrophy, Lou Gehrig disease, or recovering from stroke as well as hard of hearing individuals will find HandySpeech to be a liberating and empowering app. HandySpeech gives a voice to those who cannot speak by allowing the user to write on-screen, in 13 languages, The software then takes that handwriting and converts it to spoken language using the device’s speaker.
