Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program to Honor 107 Year Old Participant

  QUEENS, NEW YORK - 04/11/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

On May 10, 2017 at 11 am, Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program will honor Mr. I-Chong Chiang. Mr. Chiang, 107 years old, is being honored for a lifetime of accomplishments.

Mr. Chiang is the oldest registrant at Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program and has maintained his independence and vitality through a lifetime of challenge. His family and distinguished members of the community will join the other participants at Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program to commemorate his remarkable life.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND:                                                                                                           

Mr. I-Chong Chiang was born in Liling, Hunan, China a traditional farming village, on January 15^th 1910.

In the fall of 1940, he entered the Chengdu Central Military Academy and served in the military for 25 years. He bravely fought against Japan during the invasion of China in World War II. Mr. Chiang later served in defense of Taiwan against the People's Republic of China during the 1958 Taiwan Strait Crisis, earning a medal of honor.   He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Chiang immigrated to the USA with his wife in 1984 and became a naturalized citizen in 1995. He has 4 sons, 2 daughters and 40 grand and great grandchildren. He reads the newspaper, writes in a journal daily and is an active participant at Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program. Mr. Chiang buys a lottery ticket weekly with hope of a winning a fortune to spend in the future.

Franklin Adult Day Health Care Program serves seniors in the Asian community of Queens, helping to maintain their well-being through a variety of medically prescribed services including nursing care, social work, rehabilitation and recreation.
