Filmmaker Daniel Giles Boiler Room Film and the Lessons He Learned On Set

Daniel Giles actor in the critically acclaimed film Boiler Room starring Vin Diesel is planning to retire to the Philippines after working in Hollywood for more than 20 years. He started his career in acting and film as a production assistant running errands for film crews of TV shows such as Kids Say the Dandiest Things, Everybody Hates Chris, and other shows before becoming the first assistant director then an actor.

He was an actor in Boiler Room a movie that starred actors such as Vin Diesel, Nia Long, Tom Everett and Ben Affleck. The movie has had critical reviews on both Rotten Tomatoes which gave it a 67% rating and IMDB where it currently has a rating of 7.0 from thousands of moviegoers. 

The movie is about a 19-year-old college dropout Seth Davis who runs an illegal casino. Even though he is earning enough to live a comfortable life, a series of events gets him in trouble with the law which earns him disapproval from his strict father. He chooses to pursue the American dream the legal way after an associate close to his cousin offers him a job at a brokerage firm.

The job involves cold calling customers and closing accounts. Seth is confident that he can finally regain the confidence of his disapproving father while earning enough to sustain a comfortable life. He succeeds in doing both, at least for a while. Unfortunately, the brokerage job is not what it seems. Seth Davis finds himself entangled with an illegal brokerage firm that uses a pump and dump tactic to create an artificial demand. This forces him to confront his values and his past. He threatens to shut down the firm after he is overcome by guilt.

The movie is an interesting take on the unexpected nature of life and how one or two events can compel us to confront our beliefs and way of life. Daniel Giles has worked in different capacities for a number of movies and can relate to the unexpected things that life can bring to our doorstep. Working as an actor, assistant director, and production assistant has equipped him with the experience and life skills that have helped him steer clear of the pitfalls.

He has learned that humility, people skills, and high integrity are critical in any move your make whether this is on matters concerning your career or personal life. He has remained open to helping younger actors and directors find their purpose. Helping others has also helped gain some critical insights into people regardless of their background or ethnicity. He is currently planning to retire to the Philippines in the near future with his family.
