EDGY TEEN SOCIAL MEDIA FILM SET FOR LAUNCH

The dark side of social media is explored in Dot Five Films’ newest feature, “Distortion: A Social Media Story” which is set for VOD and DVD release on Friday, October 7, 2016. The film is a hard-hitting, realistic look at the dangers teens face when using social media in their everyday lives.

In his feature film debut, director Javier Espinoza tells the story of several high school students who use social media in various destructive ways. From girls who navigate the world of social media “fame,” to guys who use dating apps to hook up, the impact of social media on youth culture is seen.
In this day and age where news of social media misuse is commonplace, this film explores topics like cyber-bullying, self-esteem and body issues, relationships, and other ways social media can affect our daily lives. These issues are prevalent, yet they have not been fully explored in film. The filmmaker hopes to raise awareness for these issues and start a conversation about the role social media plays in our society.
