Dr Dave Perna DC Selected for Sports & Medical Rotation USOC at Lake Placid

Dr David Perna DC is delighted to announce that he has been selected as a volunteer for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Sports & Medicine team at Lake Placid. He will be working with athletes who are training for the 2018 Winter Olympics which will be held at Pyeongchang, South Korea. The rotation will take place from late September to early October.

Dr Perna’s primary responsibility will be to treat athlete’s injuries and to help them get back to their high standard of training faster, ensuring their peak fitness for the Winter Olympics.

Doctors are required to complete certain certifications and have at least 10 years experience before they can begin the application process. The handmade selection process is made by the USOC and is indeed a great honor and achievement to be accepted. It has long been a goal of Dr Perna’s to be selected ever since he graduated, and is the result of many years of dedication and hard work.

In fact, this will be Dr Perna’s second experience of rotation after he already attended the USOC Chula Vista California site working with USA rugby and various track athletes. Naturally, the rotation at Lake Placid promises to be much busier given the 2018 Winter Olympics taking place just 3 months later.

The other key factor for Dr Perna’s inclusion is the similar setup at his own Back & Body Medical clinic based in Manhattan. This familiarity and knowledge will prove to be a key asset with helping the athletes get back to full fitness where such key treatment methods such as chiropractic, physical therapy, Active Release Techniques, and acupuncture to name but a few, are also used.

Dr Perna plans to share his experiences on a daily basis through his Facebook page, and hopes to highlight such things as athlete food choice, training facilities, and training techniques to show how these elite athletes train and take care of their bodies.
