Dr. Christina Seo selected as Empowered Woman of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)

Dr. Christina Seo is the Director of Colorectal Surgery for Holy Name Medical Center.  She was just recently selected for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award for 2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).  

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few women are chosen for this distinction based on their years of experience in the field, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, and contributions to their communities.  These are truly incredibly talented women who have dedicated their life to their work and have had a lifetime of achievement and success in a male dominated industry! 

In 2018 Dr. Christina Seo was honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala at the Plaza Hotel in NYC for her selection as Top Doctor of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. Dr. Seo is being recognized with this distinction for having over 14 years of professional experience in the healthcare industry and proving herself as an accomplished woman and expert in a male dominated field.  As a dynamic, results-driven leader, she has demonstrated success honing her expertise in minimally invasive surgery.  Her key responsibilities for Holy Name Medical Center include, performing surgeries, colonoscopies, invasive colorectal surgery, diagnosing and treating colon cancer, polyp screenings, ulcer screenings, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disease and diverticulitis.  Dr. Seo handles more than 500 cases per year and oversees office procedures and all business administration for the practice while maintaining a good rapport with her patients.  

 
Originally wanting to become a ballerina, Dr. Seo always knew from an early age that she would end up in the medical field. Both of her parents are in healthcare and she wanted to follow in her parents’ footsteps, where her father is a doctor and her mother is a nurse practitioner. “It was a natural progression for me to pursue a career in healthcare. This career was determined for me in utero,” Dr. Seo Jokes.  After she graduated from High School Dr. Seo went on to graduate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.  In 2001, she earned her MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.  Dr. Seo also speaks multiple languages including Spanish and Korean.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Seo has received many awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2014 she was chosen as VIP Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women, Top Female Executive, selected as an Elite Worldwide Professional and Professional of the Year in Healthcare by Worldwide Branding. In 2015 she was named Best Colon and Rectal Surgeon in Englewood, NJ.  For 2016 she had a chapter dedicated to her in “Top 101 Industry Expert Publication” and for 2017 selected as “Top Doctor of the Year” by the International Association of Top Professionals. 

 
Aside from her successful career, Dr. Seo is active in her community and maintains her affiliations with ASCRS, the Catholic Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons. 

Looking back, Dr. Seo attributes her success to her parents, mentors she has had along the way, her training, perseverance, and her passion for helping people. For the future, she will continue to grow her practice, gain the confidence of doctors in the area to get more referrals, keep up with technology to offer more to her patients and she would like to go on medical missions.  Dr. Seo will also continue to grow as a professional and wants to continue to make a difference by improving patient care and saving people’s lives.
