Dr. Ashis Banerjee selected as Top Engineer of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)

Ashis G. Banerjee, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington was just recently selected as Top Engineer of the Year for 2018-2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. With having over a decade of professional experience in Engineering, Dr. Banerjee has certainly proven himself as an extraordinary professional, and expert in the field.Dr. Banerjee is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only as an Assistant Professor in Industrial & Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering for the University of Washington but also as a Research Scientist. Dr. Banerjee’s impressive repertoire of prior roles have included Research Scientist in Complex Systems Engineering Laboratory for General Electric Global Research; Research Scientist for Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Postdoctoral Associate in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Throughout his career, Dr. Banerjee has received many awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2019, he is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professional Magazine), and is also being considered for IAOTP’s Male Visionary of the Year Award.For 2018 he was selected as Top Engineer of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).In 2013 he received the Above and Beyond Silver Award from General Electric Global Research and in 2012 received the Most Cited Paper Award from the Computer-Aided Design Journal. 

Aside from his successful career, Dr. Banerjee is a sought after scientist, educator, and has published numerous articles in professional journals to share his visionary knowledge. He was invited to present his work at the inaugural University of Southern California symposium on the “Futures of Robotics” and the 2011 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems anniversary workshop on “20 years of Microrobotics: progress, challenges, and future directions.” 

Dr. Banerjee received his Bachelor’s in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 2004, his Master’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland.
