For his dedication and excellence in patient care, Patient Preferred Physicians and Practitioners proudly named Dr. Arthur M. Lauretano, MD, MS, FACS a Patient Preferred Physician representing Otolaryngology in the state of Massachusetts.

With over two decades of achievements in his specialty, Dr. Lauretano is presently the President of the Medical Staff at Lowell General Hospital, Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Center and the Medical Director of Inpatient Specialty Services at Lowell General Hospital, where he specializes in thyroid, parathyroid, robotic, and head and neck surgery. He also is an instructor in Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School and at Tufts Medical School.

Dr. Lauretano is board-certified in Otolaryngology and Clinical Informatics. He has achieved great success with his patients who applaud his compassion and expertise by giving him five-star ratings.

Dr. Lauretano grew up in Medford, Massachusetts. He graduated Boston University’s Six-Year Medical Program Summa Cum Laude, with a BA in Medical Sciences and an MD. He was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the Medical Honor Society. He was awarded the Dean Eleanor Tyler Award (Top Six-year Medical Student), Dora Savenor Memorial Prize for Excellence in Surgery, and Internal Medicine Award. After completing medical school, Dr. Lauretano completed his general surgical internship at Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital, where he received the Critical Care Award. He then entered and completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School, finishing in 1993.

In January 1997, Dr. Lauretano moved his practice to the Greater Lowell Area at Mass. ENT Associates, where he continues to practice. His clinical interests include thyroid surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, laryngeal surgery and voice disorders, including professional voice.

Dr. Lauretano is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also holds memberships in the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgery, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. He recently completed his Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Clinical Informatics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Inspired by his patients and compassion for others, Dr. Lauretano published a book: ‘Do the Right Thing’ A Surgeon’s Approach to Life. His story is inspiring to all interested in the positive impact and moral compass of one’s own daily actions.
