COSTA MESA, CA - 07/19/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)
Writer Dan Taylor and artist Chris Fason are raising funds via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to finance a print-run of Don of the Dead, a comic book about a zombie outbreak occurring at the 2016 Republican National Convention with Donald Trump being the catalyst.
Donald of the Dead is inspired by the current events of the 2016 United States Presidential Election, as well as classic zombie movies such as Dawn of the Dead and the television series The Walking Dead. The story contains elements of social commentary, dark humor, horror speculation, and far-fetched hypotheses becoming increasingly and terrifyingly real.
“I found myself waking up in the middle of the night terrified about a possible future should Donald Trump become President of the United States,” says Taylor. “I figured what better way to exercise this particular demon than by collaborating with my long time independent comic publishing partner Chris Fason on a terrifyingly fun zombie story?”
"I'm always fascinated by our political system and how some people make it into power," says Fason. "At the outset of this year's Primary season, I was 1000% sure Donald Trump would be laughed off the stage and left in the dust, seen for the narcissistic egomaniac he is. Boy, was I wrong. He may not be the President we need, but our zombified Lich King Trump is definitely the President we deserve. Dan Taylor and I couldn't help ourselves but to show this gruesome madness for what it is."
Donald of the Dead has already reached its initial modest funding goal within the first twenty-four hours of launching on Kickstarter. But, Taylor and Fason hope that their independently published comic book about the undead Republican Presidential Candidate goes viral—much like an actual zombie epidemic.
Over the last fifteen years Dan Taylor has self-published comic books, most notably the fan-favorite Hero Happy Hour (available on comiXology) with artist Chris Fason. Taylor has also written the comics and background material for Mecha Workshop's Armarauders action figure line. He also did a four year stint as editor with IDW Publishing working on comic book lines such as Transformers, Star Trek, Metal Gear Solid, and many more. Fason works as a graphic designer and has illustrated children’s books including Elkbar.
