Dean Schaner, Founder of the Schaner Law Firm, was just recently selected as Top Attorney of the Year for 2019, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), for his outstanding dedication and commitment to the Labor and Employment Law field. 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. With over 3 decades of professional experience as a practicing attorney, Mr. Schaner has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the legal field especially in labor and employment matters.  As a dynamic results-driven leader, Mr. Schaner has demonstrated success not only as an Attorney but in every position he has held.  His impressive repertoire of roles have included, Partner of Haynes and Boone, LLP, Partner of Holland & Knight,  Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Employment Law Desk Reference, 5th Edition and Founder of the Schaner Law Firm.  Mr. Schaner has been very exciting to watch and has become a household name.   His key areas of expertise include all aspects of unfair competition, discrimination, retaliation, ERISA, Wrongful Termination, Wage and Hour, Whistleblower, Harassment, and contract/Tort Claims arising out of the employment relationship.  

The Schaner Law Firm represents clients in labor and employment matters for both employees and employers and has tried a wide variety of cases in the federal and state courts, including the successful defense of an energy company in a class action case in which the plaintiffs sought $30 Million in Damages.   

Mr. Schaner earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science graduating Cum Laude from Texas Tech University and his Juris Doctorate also graduating Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Law. Mr. Schaner is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a Labor and Employment Law Specialist.

For 2019 he is being considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).  For his selection as Top Attorney of the Year by IAOTP, he will be honored at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.  For 2018, Mr. Schaner was selected as Top Lawyer of the Year by the Global Who’s Who and in 2017 named Pinnacle Professional by Continental Who’s Who. From 2014-2019 he was recognized by Chambers USA in Labor & Employment.  From 2012-2019 he was included in The Best Lawyers in America for Employment Law-Management. From  2003-2019, named as a Texas Super Lawyer in Texas Monthly Magazine in Employment Litigation Defense and has an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.
 

Aside from his successful career, Mr. Schaner is a sought after lecturer, public speaker and contributor to numerous articles and professional journals.  He is a member of the exam committee for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Labor and Employment Law Exam Commission.  From 2008-2019 he served as Exam Coordinator for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Labor and Employment Specialization Exam Committee, and is a member and on the Board of Directors for Houston West Chamber of Commerce. 

Looking back, Mr. Schaner attributes his success to his experience, mentors he has had along the way and staying true to his passion for the law.  Mr. Schaner says he has been blessed, he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning. When not working he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
