Concorde Medical Group Introduces The Kips Bay Integrative Weight Management Program

Concorde Medical Group Division of Gastroenterology, a division of Concorde Medical Group, New York City’s premiere medical practice announced today that it has created The Kips Bay Integrative Weight Loss Management Program (IWMP), a one year weight loss program designed to help patients develop sustainable, long-term healthy weight management habits. Concorde Medical Group physicians created this novel program to address the growing obesity epidemic.  Their premise is that obese patients have  a chronic condition and  require a personalized weight loss program that  integrates medical support and lifestyle management.

The program offers patients two different options for weight loss, one that involves non-surgical endoscopic intervention along with the IWMP integrated lifestyle plan, and the other comprised entirely of the IWMP lifestyle approach. If a patient is a candidate for endoscopic intervention to kick start weight loss, they will undergo a simple non-surgical endoscopic balloon or "sleeve" gastroplasty procedure which will help them feel less hungry and satiated. The balloon will remain in place for six months. Simultaneously, a gastroenterologist who is part of the KBIWMP team will supervise progress.  In addition, patients will have access to online nutrition and fitness counseling as well as visits with a healthy lifestyle coach. Once the balloon is removed through a quick non-surgical procedure, the next six months are an opportunity to capitalize on the momentum by continuing coaching. When the year-long program is over, a patient has established healthy choices that help them continue to lose weight and maintain results.
