IIT-Kharagpur will welcome two seasoned trainers for their tennis program(s) in January 2018, in thanks to Mr. Vinod Gupta, a KGP graduate and US based entrepreneur. “I love tennis as a game and exercise. I want Kharagpur’s team to be the best. That’s why I have asked TJ Hyman, coach of Leander Paes to train IIT-Kgp team. He is one of the finest tennis coaches. There are endless opportunities to give back as an alum and this time sports are on my agenda to promote wellness among students,” said Gupta who funded the management and law schools at IIT Kharagpur.

Hyman has a long history with the game of tennis having served as the head professional for several clubs, playing 4 years on the varsity team (including #1) at the University of New Hampshire, and acting as the coach of the Britannia Amritraj Tennis Program (B.A.T.) in Madras, India where he coached Leander Paes. Hyman, who has his USPTA (United States Professional Teaching Association) Professional Level 1 certification, is excited to get back to India. “I want to thank Mr. Vinod Gupta and IIT for providing me with this opportunity. Tennis has always been a big part of my life and I am beyond thrilled to be helping train the tennis playing students at IIT.” In his spare time, Hyman enjoys reading, golf, and spending time with his three children.

Joining Hyman is Mr. Warren Rohmfeld, an Elite USPTA tennis teaching professional with over 30 years of experience. Rohmfeld enjoyed a successful junior and college career before he turned his attention to teaching tennis both in the US and internationally. In addition to his extensive background in tennis, he is also a NASM Sports Performance Certified Trainer.
