Award Winning Healthcare Innovator and Entrepreneur Dr. Orie Achonwa to Judge the Business Professionals of America Youth Competition

On March 3^rd Dr. Orie Achonwa will contribute her decade plus years of experience conceptualizing and executing projects for wellness and social good as a judge for the 2017 Business Professionals of America student competition. Business Professionals of America is a student organization developing young people’s leadership skills and abilities to plan and execute worthy activities and projects.

“We need more young minds thinking about the future of the world we live in. I like these types of events because they get our kids curious about tomorrow and give them the confidence to believe that they can mobilize change,” says Dr. Orie.

About Dr. Orie Achonwa

Dr. Orie has a track record of successful ventures that have shaped how clinicians practice and how young people engage in healthful habits. Most notable was a feto-infant health surveillance system she designed in 2013 that takes what's typically fragmented information about a patient and baby and transforms it into structured data OB and pediatric professionals can use to improve treatment and care decisions for mother and child.

In the early 2000s she developed a Wellness Toolkit for the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, was involved in creating a telemedicine program to give more children and families access to healthcare, and collaborated with a team of pediatricians to use new media to improve the accessibility of prenatal and breastfeeding education.
